I own a 2004 Touareg V6 that I bought used. I always assumed the upholstery was leather, How do I know for sure?
The two differences are extremely obvious. If you can see and feel the leather texture, you have cricket. If smooth, it is Nappa. One can also stick their hand in that storage pocket on the front seat back facing the rear seats. If it is Nappa, you will feel the actual hide itself on the inside. If Cricket, it will feel the same as on the surface.I just checked my window sticker, and it says "Krystal Grey Leather" and "Smooth leather seating surfaces" in my options list. Never specifies Nappa nor Cricket. Now I'm annoyed.
Nope. :-lllWell I agree to disagree, the Touareg we have is Leather...
what ''type of Leather'' is in Question.
The OP ask if it was Leather or synthetic ''how can you tell''
Theres napa leather and theres cricket leather (both quialty leather) & of course faux leather (fake)...
However, the cricket vs napa leathers napa is little smoother and softer leather thats the only difference...I have cricket leather on our Touareg and its on everything the door sides the headrest/armrest even in the dash & center console steering wheel is leather..but its just cricket leather I'm sure... its not synthetic or vinyl.
another good way to tell is the smell of good leather never goes away.
