Knock on wood no issues with sound. Just the black screen last night. But it started working after pressing a few buttons.

I have managed to update my KGL to the latest firmware and KK4.4.4_1 all via the XDA site. For those intending I offer the following. The Phone app seem worse, but apart from this all things seems to run better. even get info back on the system from the car so two way can bus is working.Phone is pretty poor I am told that voice is quite scratchy so I'll try another mic. and see if this fixes the problem. I still need to do a final install but waiting until I get every thing sorted. I can run Spotify , PowerAmp , e-mail , club Touareg and so much more. IMO the music is so much better , Radio is pretty good now , phone is my only issue.

Lol, those guys at XDA are great!, they sure keep me busy these days. Me being an Android enthusiast.
Yes I like the Linux based systems but know little about getting my way round them. In my business we run linux for all our back end stuff. I have been an Android phone user for ages, have not bothered to root but this KGL system is making me try to understand things a little more to get the optimum solutions.

Hi Guys,

I am new on this board, new Touareg owner. I have the base radio in my truck. After reading most of this thread I am really interested in getting a android aftermarket headunit.

I am scared this unit is a little complicated to get right. Am I wrong? Which unit do you guys consider the best? I don't mind paying the right price to get it working well out of the box (or almost)

Thanks

Nicolas

I have tried the S150 and this unit. S150 fits better but after that this unit is better. None are trouble free but for the price they not bad. I would not buy if you aren't prepared to muck around with these a bit.

I would definitely recommend KGL-7402 for the price you can't go wrong. the guys here are pretty good and always are willing to help and also at the guys XDA, so chances are you will never have a problem getting help. Or you can splurge and go for the RNS-510 which is almost five time as much money.

Give it a go. I knew nothing about android or ever changed out a stereo before. Plenty of help on here if u get stuck

I have received my unit from Allen, fast shipping , well preserved !. ?

I am willing to do the installation, I have some question for you guys

- Key 2 cable goes to.where.?
- to connect the Camera on the unit which cable do I have to use ? , I am seeng that there are 2 cables labeled as camera ground "black"and camera in"red" , the last one is hot? And for the last RCA , I suppose that his is for receive video signal from rear camera I guess
- Does some have a manual of the unit ?, can be downloaded online?
- Do I Need to leave loose illumination "orange"and ACC cable"red" they are together at the same plug ?, is true that those cables connected can drain the battery?
- I have received a camera to record the trip but with USB connector, can I use the slot " 3G " as USB ?

I will appreciate your help about that and if you think that something else should be taken on consideration , please don't hesitate to send your advises

Apology about my English ,

Thanks

The screw heads on either side of the unit are difficult to get past the aluminium frame. I managed it by pushing one side in first on a little bit of an angle. Some have changed the screws to flatter ones or ground down the aluminium bracket to accommodate.

Good luck....
