NEED HELP, PLEASE: Trying to replace button battery in Key Fob for our 2014 Touareg. Looking at pictures in owners manual (pages 37, 38, & 39, I am unable to remove "battery cover" after successfully removing "Emergency Key". Repeatedly, I've tried paper clip (as suggested), plus other small screw drivers. Any suggestions?

Generic Batteries will not last. As above, get brand name. Duracell or Energizer work fine. Best are sourced from Japan, but I have found that Indonesia coin cells are also ok.

I know this is an old thread and video. Does anyone else have enormous difficulty getting the side chrome plate to release? If it were just on one fob, I would think it was just sticky, filled with pocket lint, or something. I can feel the first time I pry the release down that something is moving in the correct direction, but the side plate does NOT release. So I press harder until I think I've dented or damaged the plastic piece that is the lever. Any hints? It looks so easy in all of the videos I've watched. Many thanks.

It's not just you, same here.
I've gotten it down to using two very small thin jewelers screwdrivers. One to activate the release and one to pry the top of the chrome side piece out enough to remove it. It took a bit of practice, especially since I swap the case out for a new one when it gets scratched or I drop the keys and crack the FOB case.
Anywho that's how I do it.
