Hey all, I'm new here. I have an 06 Touareg with Navigation. They installed an ipod adapter for me, however now they tell me that I can only use the Ipod adapter OR my CD changer! Is this true? Or did the dealership just not know what they were doing!

Yes, I do have the rca jacks in mine, but that only allows for an auxiliary adapter. I really wanted to be able to control the Ipod from my radio and steering wheel controls. I didn't know it would not let me use my CD Changer! The VW dealership had no idea about any of the ins and outs of the Ipod adapter! So clueless!

I struggled with this question myself before I installed the Ice>Link:plus iPod interface (and lost the use of my CD changer).

Why keep the CD changer?

It is cumbersome to change CD's, you can load many CD's on the iPod, and if you have to listen to a CD in the Touareg, then pop out the NAV DVD and play the CD.

I don't miss the CD changer at all, and I like the Ice>Link:plus interface a lot - steering wheel control and the option of either selecting playlists through the NAV unit or selecting directly on the iPod.

So, why do you need both?

Yes.

Do a search for iconnection, they offer an interface that loops in between the radio/nav unit and the CD- Changer, if you press the CD button, it activates the iPod, if you go back to radio mode and back to CD within a few seconds, it activates the CD-Changer.

Earlier iconnection units had some problems and didn’t switch well between the 2 devices but the new ones work well.

I still use my CD Changer a lot, first of all, I like to buy CD’s while on the road (and with no way to get them on the iPod), also, I like to offer my friends to bring along their CD’s on road trips. Putting them into the Nav’s CD player is not an option because I need the Nav DVD in there.

Hi All,

I have a 2008 Touareg (had a 2004 before). The Dealer I purchase my 2008 T had a Peripheral Ipod adapter installed by a local electronics store, anyway I have had nothing but problems with this adapter from Static in the SAT & Ipod and sometimes the Ipod will not respond when I change from SAT to Ipod. Has anyone out there Purchased the Peripheral adapter and had the same problems?

Thanks, Raul

Hello everyone I purchased an '04 touareg a couple of weeks ago and it had an ipod adapter already installed. But now I can't use the cd changer does anyone know how I can use the cd changer?

Get an IPOD, I ordered an 07 E class Mercedes with a 6 CD Changer plus DVD player. Received it 10/06, a month after I got it I had an IPOD kit installed, I used the 6 CD changer about 10 times after that until I sold the car late August this year.
