Interior Floor lights will not go off

I picked up my V8 yesterday. Overall great car. I spent several hours at the dealer working out little things and doing some shakedown driving. So I finally am ready to pull the trigger. I pay, they hand me the keys, and I am off. It's now dark, the dealership is closing, and I have to drive home. I get in the car and the floor lights in the front(where your feet are) and in the floor of the rear cargo area won't go off. I play with every control in the car and cant get them off. The overhead lights turn off somewhat normally - no problem. Then I get home and turn the car off. They still wont go off. I have to pull the fuse to get them off. Then I notice that the red instrument pannel will not go off either - end up pulling that fuse. The dealership is closed today so I am stuck until Friday.

This is quite frustrating.

$#@$

Anyone have a similar experience?

Thanks.

Congrats on your new Touareg. :D

The floor lighting stays on while driving, and will stay on for a period of time after turning off the car.

Both the brightness of the lighting, and how long it stays on is configurable in you MFI display, in the Convienience menu. (You have to be in 'park' to adjust it, can't do it while driving.)

The duration for how long they stay on is set under the 'coming home' sub-menu. Mine is set for 15 seconds, though it seems that it takes more like 20-30 secs, but does in fact turn off.

Please read the manual, if you haven't already. It's poorly written, but if you read it while sitting in the car and playing with the features, you can usually make sense of it.

God Luck, and Happy New Year.

floor lights

The control for the floor lights are on the steering wheel (right side)
Press and select "comfort"...then you can adjust the level of the lights or not have any at all in the footwells.....
At least this is how I do it on mine??

Interior Floor Lights/Exhaust System

Ours won't go off either....not unless we lock the car. If we park in our garage we still have to lock the cars to get the floor lights to go off.

We have had NUMEROUS problems with this SUV since we bought it. It has been in the shop more than on the road. When we first took it in (the Engine Exhaust Light came on two days after we bought it) it took them almost a week to even figure out what the problem was. Then it took them another month to get the part.

Make sure the back hatch window glass is shut tight. If it's not, it can cause the interior lights to stay on.

Close the back hatch GENTLY. It has power assist to lock. The first time I forgot, and slammed it like my old Grand Cherokee, I must have jarred the glass and had the same lights on problem. Dealer told me to open and reclose glass, and in the future close hatch gently. No problem since.

I had the exact same problem. I traced it to a malfunctioniong interior light switch in the overhead console. Took it to the dealer, they replaced the switch and problem was solved.

If the interior floor lights are on whilst driving the car; its a feature. 4x4s explained how to turn it off or make it brighter. I like it alot, especially when you are driving and something drops from you. Shuffeling around in the dark while driving is not quite smart.

Check your owners manual, the footwell lights are controlled via the MFI settings and are adjustable in 10% increments. I think this can be found in the comfort settings under lights if my memory serves me correctly. We have ours set at 20% I think. Leaves enough light on the floor but not so much to be distracting at night. They can be turned off completely except when doors are open.
