Anybody knows what 00685 code is? "Injection Valve cylinder 11-N301 short circuit to positive" the mechanic changed valve cover gaskets which he has to remove the injectors and put them back.. I believe something happened to one of them

There are fault codes for Injection Valve Cylinder 1 through 12 which correspond to the engine cylinder number. But you should only see this code if you have the W12 Touareg. Otherwise you probably have a fault in the Fuel Injector Control Module.

What engine do you have?

2014 Touareg tdi 3.0L. It is weird driving after the mechanic replaced the valve cover gasket. One injector, first one from the fire wall on passenger side has some oil around it or maybe fuel. The mechanic lost the copper rings and gasket and he used the same one, when he removed the injectors. Now I got him new ones and will replace them.

Or maybe a scan tool that does not properly report the codes ?
Wow, does that happen? Worked on so many cars and it never crossed my mind that the scan tool could miss report so badly. Guess I have always used quality scan tools. For VW I have VCDS HEX-V2 which is excellent.

Well that is definitely not a good sign. A lot of times the injector hardware (o rings, washers etc) are one time use to ensure proper seal. Glad you are on it. Have not worked on TDI so won't be of much help.

You may want to consider editing your profile and adding your car info in "Vehicle Details" field so that others can help you easier.

all the injector seals and the tension springs/bolts are one time use. you don't reuse. If your mechanic didn't know that, I wouldn't be bringing my car to him. Its pretty basic knowledge that a mechanic doing that job should.
