I took my Treg in to get the brakes checked (light squeal starting). Upon inspection at Just Breaks, they noticed I had a left side rotor (has an L stamped into it) on the right side! Well i plan to take it in soon, and not having any experience with brakes, was wondering if this is something, once replaced, which will affect the other disc brakes due to wear, etc? The brake pads/rotors they said are in good shape and dont need to be replaced yet. Any thoughts?

The reason the rotors are marked left or right is because the vains on a vented rotor are directional. There are no other differences. Replacing one rotor will not effect the other 3.

Everybody better check their rotors. Probably why so many have a pull to the right. The air from both rotors is directed in the same direction.

I guess i should have been more clear, but I am more interested in the fact that one wheel will have to ne replaced with a new rotor and pads installed, whereas the others are going to be half worn. Is this something that would warrant new pads on all wheels? I'm def gonna give it a shot, but i figure it to be an uphill battle with the dealership.

You have not provided enough info for an educated response.

If you purchased your Touareg new and have not had any work done on the brakes other than at the dealership, then it should be reasonable to expect that the dealer would replace BOTH front rotors and BOTH sets of front brake pads for free.

The logic being that installation of a "L" rotor on the "R" position was a manufacturing defect. Further, it is recommended maintenance practice to replace pads and rotors together and in pairs, not just one side.

Haha, once again, sorry. No work has been done and this was a factory mistake. Thanks for the help, I'll keep that in mind when dealing with the srvice rep.
