Hi, I have 04 V8 with 75K miles. I started getting the message “move lever to position P” on MFI and clicking noise while driving. The message comes on and off. I read that someone had same issue and was related to keyless entry and was fixed by replacing the door handle. My question, Can I disable the keyless entry feature on the Tuaoreg , so I avoid replacing door handle?

Great question. Given that replacing the entire door handle or handles appears to be the only solution since they are not repairable, disabling the keyless entry if out of warranty seems to be a good option. This is especially true since the door handles are far from cheap and painting them to match is an additional cost or problem.

i do not have an answer but people do disable the TPMS system and there are posts that provide info on doing this. I would suspect if you followed the general procedure on disabling the TPMS and adapt to the Keyless entry system, you would achieve your result. I expect that if you pull the fuse for the keyless system or unplug its controller(above the steering column under the dash) you would be successful.

Good luck and let us know how it comes.

Thanks for posting your solution. I too have been experiencing the same symptoms and had jumped to the conclusion that the solution was going to be new door handles. I wasn't really concerned since I have the Platinum Real Driver warranty with a $0 deductible.

I'll change my remote battery and see if that does it for me.

Thanks again.

I thought my wife could live without the keyless entry, but a bad kessy module will probably also randomly wake up the car and draw ~2.5 amps from the battery, eventually killing it, and leaving you with a no-start one fine morning. I also had a diode ripple that required a new alternator. The dealer said that the heavily drained battery every morning may have helped kill the alternator. You'll want to have a dealer or good independent monitor the current draw with the latches rolled closed and alarm activated. You'll probably need a new kessy module, to the tune of ~$700 parts / a few hours labor. Still cheaper than the $770 alternator and 14 hours of labor to install it.

I have been dealing with this battery drain issue for years. My remedy lately is to have the trickle charger connected whenever parked in the garage. Last night I've disconnected each exterior door handle button control by removing the inside door skin and unplugging it. I hope it works. I can live without the keyless entry.
