Sounds like you're doing it right. Basically ... make sure "ECON" isn't lit up

Sometimes it's tricky to see but if the orange ECON light is on then you are just getting outside air. All you need do is push the ECON button so it is not glowing (off) and then cold air will come out. Enjoy.

One last thing. Did you set the left side control to 'auto' and see if the system worked then? Just push the inner button so it lights up and make sure your temp is turned down. If that doesn't work then you might check the fuses before you head over. They're in a panel on the left side of the dash panel.
