Hi Every one, just been reading a few threads from our US brothers and seen a few things i did not know the Touareg has such as the mini sun visors, and adjustable ambience lights.
Is there any other features which are subtly hidden and might not be known about to us newbies.
Could we list them here?

So much more fun not to list them - then you get posts like "Hey, the glass opens on my tailgate!" from T1 and T2 owners.

Or better still the guy who'd owned his Treg for several years and sold the car but only realised the glass opened when the new owner picked it up and opened it to put stuff in the back!

:clapclap:

Or the one who could'nt work out how to get his wheels off because his box spanner would'nt fit over his chrome lug covers.

I'm a bit surprised not many people use the glass hatch, it is one of the most useful feature the Treg has over our Q7.

Our Q7's tail gate lifts up too high and collide with the garage door when open (and depending where the treg is parked it also has the same issue, and it really bugs me that I can't get home, and put away the shopping in one move. Does no one else finds the below happens:
  • If garage door is closed, there is not enough room to open the tailgate;
  • If the garage door is open, then an open tailgate collides with the garage door;

IMO, on top of all the other hassles, these surprises really adds to the overall 'bad' ownership experience for me. I should have took it as an omen when within 2 days of owning it the windscreen fogged up <from the outside>, and the dealer said it was a 'feature'. I'm convinced, VW is really the people's car, i.e. to have a good experience, get the high volume Golf, anything else is just a bad experiment. Prediction, just wait for all the tradies and their Amaroks to jump up an down when they experience the VW experience.

Does your Q7 or Touareg have the electronic open / close? If so, there is a secret that will keep it from hitting the garage door (I'm assuming the Q7 has the same secret that the Touaregs do)

I'm with you on that! VW are short with good techs. The Amarok in 4x2 'tradie' guise may do OK in value etc, but if it's off the road 'cause it's bruk and stays off the road, Toyota will still be smiling, esp when it's bruk out of the main coastal dealer coverage. It's a new donk and a new platform - it'll have it's fair share of gremlins in MK 1 form.

There is a power tailgate option - standard on some models - that opens but not closes. You can adjust how far it opens. It latches electronically. John
If your tailgate isn't closing automatically, then you've got an issue with it. Mine is power open and close, and I never thought I'd appreciate the feature like I do. . .especially the close part.

Sorry, slight case of half the story. It closes with the button on the tailgate but not with the one on the driver's door or the remote fob is what I meant to say, John
