I was wondering if anyone has had any over-heating problems with their Touareg. It only happens periodically, I'm wondering if it's the thermostat, Water Pump or Coolant Control sensor that needs to be replaced because the radiator fluid is still full and not leaking. But The Fan is always running Also when I bought my Touareg it didn't come with an owners manual so does anyone know exactly where the thermostat is at on a 2005 V8 Touareg?

Owner's manual wouldn't have told you where the thermostat is anyway. The parts guy at a dealership should be able to look it up on his system, tell you the cost of the part, and print out a diagram showing where it is on the engine.

Thank You for your response Fourdiesel. Our local VW Dealershiip is refusing to give us this Information. And further more they are telling us that If we replace the Themostat That we should also replace The Water Pump And Timimgbelt at The same time.. Is this True?

There should be more than one dealership within a reasonable driving distance of you. I've found that if you do NOT go thru the service advisor but instead just walk up to the parts desk (and assuming they aren't terribly busy) you get questions like this answered.
Since I don't have a V8 like you, I can't answer the specifics of the question. Have you tried searches on this website. There are lots of posts about changing the water pump (and thermostat?) at the same time the timing belt is done but never the other way around, especially if the timing belt on yours has just been done. I assume you checked to make sure that had been done before you bought it? You don't tell us how many miles is on your Touareg either before or since you bought it so we are limited on the necessary information.

So was the timing belt done or not? Who is refusing to help you, Strong or Southtowne? I used to use Strong when I was out there and never had any issues with them at all. Even though I did not purchase my TDI from them. There are at least two more dealers you can try. I don't know much about either of them though.

It was Strong VW. And No the timing belt was never done this will be the first time.. I really never had any problems until We hit One Hundred Thousand Miles.. The things started going downhill.. We have replaced The Fuel Pump ,The Headlight, The Key Battery, And Now This Problem With The Heating And Cooling..

Timing belt was due at 80,000 miles, and most folks do the thermostat and water pump while they are in there, since it all has to come apart anyway. If you can find a reliable independent you trust, might wanna have them do it, as the dealer doing this task is gonna hit you hard in the pocket. Are you sure the timing belt wasn't done before you bought it?

We are to the point that if we could sell it we would.. but we owe to much money. And no dealers wants it. They all say the same thing .. that It's just not Practical for Utah Weather. And they wouldn't be able to resell it..

PM me your VIN#, year, engine code, transmission code and i'll PM back the thermostat position picture with engine parts and proceedure for changing if you like.

Why the hell would they say it is not practical for UT weather? That makes no sense what so ever. I thought it was the best vehical for the winters you get out there and felt safer driving it then anything else I ever drove out there. You are getting a serious run around imo. Does not sound like Strong to deny service either. They were always awesome to me when I went there.
