Former Benz owner (SL500) under doctors orders to find a daily driver I could enter and exit without putting my back and knees at risk, I now have the keys (fobs actually) to a 2011 VR6 Executive, which I have named Heinrich.

This is my first SUV, so I'm finally joining that club as well. But not my first VW ('74 Super Beetle).

I've just had the car for a little over 24 hours, and the first thing I noticed: compared to the SL, I feel like a vulture perched on a tree branch, instead of a ground squirrel. I assume I'll get used to that...

Anyway, here's Heinrich's adoption photo (from the lot, sticker still in window).

WELCOME TO CLUB TOUAREG! i hope you enjoy your stay here, you came to a food place!

Your touareg looks beautiful, i LOVE the toffee brown color and it makes the treg (nick name for touareg) look ultra premium. My brother is currently looking to get into an Mercedes
S-class (his dream car) personally i love my treg and would not trade it for anything else! Get comfortable, you are among friends!

Welcome to the Forum. You will find lots of knowledge here as well as many things about your car that even most dealers are unaware of. My Treg is my first VW and it only took me 6 months to become a two VW family.

Great cars which are solid and a please to drive.

First snowfall of winter here today. So, first chance to test Heinrich's behavior in inclement weather.

What a pleasure driving to work (well, as much as that's ever a pleasure). Warm and cozy with oodles of traction. LOVE the heated steering wheel.

Now if I could only get the clowns in their clapped out Camries to go more than 10 mph..

I'm in Salem too. My office is out by the airport. Just a light dusting here.

House is in the south hills.. they're letting us out early today, just in case. Amazing how an inch of snow can immobilize a city isn't it?

And I thought it was only in England that an inch of snow totally ****s things up!

Where I live in the Bay Area, small amounts of rain tend to muck up the already horrendous traffic. The Silicon Valley would practically shut down if there were snow.

A few years ago, there was a looming threat of snow coming to the Bay Area. San Francisco had 10 snow plows delivered just in case. I know that must sound silly to those who live in snowy weather, but we are use to clear skies and dry roads.

That's because the majority of people are not prepared for it and are not good drovers in dry conditions. Only one time I remember about 1984 we had so much snow in Salem starting about noon and the city was overwhelmed and the cars were abandoned all over town. I think we had six to eight inches of the good old Oregon wet snow.

Just a bad reaction to the pity the fools who drive in those conditions I guess. That and I do not like city traffic or large crowds. I live in a small town and I am used to no traffic or waiting lines. Sorry if I offended anyone.
