I stopped by the dealer to have both headlamps checked out. One is getting quite foggy. The other is collecting quite a bit of moisture to the point that you can see water droplets on the inside.

Dealer/Shop Foreman took pics and is going to get back with my by end of week. He was saying that there is a TSB about the moisture. TSB states that moisture is OK as long as water does not pool at bottom.

Anyone had similar issues?

Just had both headlights replaced under warranty on my 06 v10.
They were faded.
They replaced both taillights too, said theres an led in them that was working intermitantly.
How can I test to see if the LED is working? This way I can have everything taken care of at the same time.

I think mine are OK. Took a look at them last night.

Regional VW rep denied my claim. Grrr.

Now trying to figure out what to do.

I just had both of my headlight assemblies replaced from dealer. The clear shell was cracked on both and the inside of the headlight was almost stained from something.

I think it is a matter of how well the service manager can argue with VW to replace assemblies under warranty.

Grrr. This keeps getting worse.

I purchased the vehicle last week. Mish Mish and I went to the dealer (Hatfield VW) to pick up the Touareg as they were working to fix the problem.

Hatfield tried to buff the headlamps to repair and that did not work. I left the dealership after all three of us (Myself, Mish Mish, and VW rep) discussed bringing the car up here to cleveland and have it finished here. After VW regional rep denied claim I reached out to Hatfield VW service manager (Mark Haag).

Here is his response:

"The repair attempt was made because I phoned the local VW FOM and reviewed the issue with him. I was told the hazing of the lamps are not covered past the 12 month 12,000 miles wear warranty.

Thanks

Mark Haag
Service Manager"

Now I do not know what to do. I have headlamps that are not in good working condition and can only imagine what it is going to cost me to get these replaced.

I am getting nowhere with VW. They are saying that the headlamp issues are due to environmental conditions. Therefore no warranty coverage.

Any thoughts? These are very expensive to replace.

G . . . I have headlamps that are not in good working condition and can only imagine what it is going to cost me to get these replaced.
You just bought a $40,000 German work of art . . . spring for the new lights and enjoy!;)

I know what you are saying. I just did not plan on spending an extra $1300 on the vehicle this early in the process.

Sorry, but you did not bring up the problem before making the purchase.:( See if the dealer will sell you the parts at cost as a good will gesture; you did enrich the owner's retirement and vacation fund generously;)
Upon my departure from the dealership, the previous owner and I were under the same assumption (based on the conversation we had with Hatfield VW) that this would be taken care of when I got home from my local VW dealer.
