hi all. finally got me a touareg after the longest time and all i can say is WOW. still have to let it sink. nuthin fancy, black, v6, anthracite leather with package 3. will think about the mods later, when my wallet recovers from the shock. anyway, my first stupid question, (and i did a search on this already), but am i just dreaming or did the v8 with the nav i test drove have a sunglasses cubbyhole in the roof because mine sure doesn't. i guess aside from that, and any suggestions for a good set of off-roading wheels, everything about this vehicle rocks. sorry i am making no sense, i think i am just high from the new car smell.

" sunglasses cubbyhole"

I don't remember seeing any Touaregs with that option. Maybe in euro

i don't know whether i just got confused or what, but the manger's car that i test drove seemed to be different than mine. aside from the sunglasses storage space, his also has two 12 volt outlet at the right side of the gear stalk. the manual also says that the car is supposed to be equipped with a button at the left side of the steering wheel stalk for easy entery/exit. is that another option that is not included with the power seats?

so far, i am happy with the car, aside from the time it needs to get up to speed. well, i like the interior better than my old 3 series, and the ride is just so sweet, even without the air suspension (am i missing something?). well, here's to a wonderful long relationship with this car, and i guess i can now see why a lot of the people who bought this car just are so in love with it, problems notwithstanding.

It would help if you would let us know in which coutry you are located. The Touaregs have different options available in different countries!

i am sorry. i live in south jersey. i had to wait for my car as there was almost no black/anthracite touareg anywhere close by. my salesman finally got one fresh off the boat and had to drive it almost 150 miles to the dealership. another dealership offered me a slightly lower monthly payment but i decided to stick with my salesman because he was a pretty nice guy.

i really wanted to get a v8 with nav but pricewise, it is a little out of my comfort zone. (460 for a 48 month lease. 1000 down for my touareg - is that a good deal? and anyways, the car came with an "appearance package" free (795 if i paid for it) what is it anyway?) that was how the car i drove was outfitted, and that was why i am wondering whether the v6 has a slightly different layout than the v8. anyway, the car is still a lot of car for the money, and i am glad that i took a look at it again before putting my money down on the new subaru tribeca, although i could have gotten that one at invoice price. nothing like the feeling of getting what you really wanted.

The base model V6 (that comes without the covered ashtray) has two power sockets to the right of the shifter. More well appointed Touaregs have the covered ashtray with it's own power outlet, so they only have one in the console next to the shifter.
