Hi, I have purchased a 2008 2.5 TDI Toureg about 8 - 10 weeks ago it's done 56K with a F.S.H., whilst driving the other day the engine fault / Workshop! started to flash and beep at me, I also noticed the glow plug light was permenantly lit..... there was also a loss of power. I pulled in asap and switched everything off gave it about 10 mins, started the engine again and everything was fine for about 3 days, now the same fault is back, and did not stop after I had done as previous... ie. wait 10 mins etc....

Also as I work away a lot it is normally the good lady that drives it, however I have noticed it is quite smokey (white) on start up in the morn ( not too unusual in cold morns...) but even after an hour you can still see a little white smoke.... if memory serves me correctly that is an indicator of a cylinder head gasket failing....

Could these problems be somehow linked ? Or does anybody know or have heard of similar issues....

Sorry for being long winded.... not too experienced with diesels (Petrolhead in the past) let alone 4X4's

Yes , when it first happened I checked both levels, they were about midway between min/max..... I will recheck tomorrow morning looking for any differences.....

I just had the same thing happen. My first thought is limp mode, which happens when the turbo stops working. Don't panic. I had this in my jetta all the time, and in that case it was generally a loss of vacuum.

So, i get home, shut down, and the next day things were fine. The vehicle is going to the mechanic to get check and a NOX sensor done.

When i hear back, i'll let you know.
