This thread is for gauging interest on deleting the O2 sensors via an ECU tune.
On diesel engines, the O2 sensors have 2 roles. - It determines the EGR cycle and acts as a smoke limiter for the DPF regen cycles.
As some of you know, these sensors go faulty quite often and to replace them you need to drop engine / transmission for access which bumps up a repair bill of 2000 plus. This might happen at least one or twice in during ownership as O2 sensors have been reported to fail between 50k-100k miles.
My solution- Permanently delete the 02 sensors' workings. You do not need to remove engine or remove O2 sensor, I will kill the sensor via an ECU tune. This will no longer activate a DPF regen so the DPF will need to be removed if you have a DPF. EGR will also slow down but no CEL lights will appear.
If there is interest in this, I will investigate it further. It will take at least a month or two months to develop this as it is something I or no other tuner I have ever heard of doing this.
Naturally I am not going to spend tonnes of hours working at this if there will not be much interest for it.
