Shown below are 6 different front end styles, some more subtle change than the others, even if they almost look the same. I would appreciate your $0.02, and rate ALL of these 6 images in order of your preference.

I have numbered the images. Click on the images to enlarge.

I felt slightly uncomfortable using some of these pics on here without owners consent, so I cropped them...One of them is my ride anyways, and for those of you who know which one it is, please don't be biased in your vote!! Vote it as least favourite if your taste dictates it, I won't get pissed.

I'm gathering data here.
I'm also regretting uploading through imageshack, they came out significantly fuzzier :(

3 and only 3! The rest are complete non-starters.

Thanks for the quick reply guys, but can you vote on all six of them, regardless if you hate some of them?

Example: 2, 6, 3, 5, 4, 1 or 6, 1, 2, 4, 3, 5, etc.....In order of decreasing favour.

I'm recording subtle readings here, everything I do has purpose :)

No.

I don't do subtle!

I liked them all too, but I had to choose one wife in the end :).

Then again, some of us do have mistresses? 8-[
Maybe this topic would been better titled as, which of one the six would you marry for life, and which one only good for extracurricular......

Seriously though, interesting that you added 4 between 2 and 6, since the only difference between 2 and 6 is that number 6 colour coded the whole thing, where as numero 2, left it original silver on the horizontal bottom piece, as per Caractere.

R50/Individual is my pick. Only because I have mine in a box from the dealer waiting on me to paint and install... ;0)
Good stuff man!

Going back to the 6 pics up above, it's worth noting to guys like you, that none of them are in fact 100% W12/R50 or Individual, and the one that is (no. 5) somewhat, has an ABT grille in place of the chrome one. Plus the lower chrome ring on the bumper was painted black as well. A what was OEM VW W12 front end with the owner performing a custom job on top.

Now, in light of that, let's continue on with the 6 images. Basically what I mean is, I'd like you guys to follow my initial request in the first post, so that I can get a solid baseline happening, and then perhaps after a couple of pages or so into the future of this thread, we can then discuss the situation and particulars.

I ran my marathon in under three hours . . . . .

I would still like you guys to LIST ALL 6 even if you don't like some of them! Maybe you like only one and hate all the others equally you say to yourselves! It doesn't apply in this experiment of mine.

Let us take it from the top. If you had to choose, at gun point say :), all 6 in order of your preferred sequence, in what order would you place them in?!

The rest are sh*t.

Now pull the ****ing trigger!

If you want a street tough look it's 4 + lower center opening of 3 (which stand alone is nice subtle look). Might need a complete ground effects all the way around...

If you want off road look it's 6 + brush bar an skid plate in stainless from 5 (which stand alone could be functional for parking here in NYC)

...2 then 1

What are you thinking out back?

Ok, I like your talk here, finally someone on the same wavelength! :D.

Ok let's get serious for a sec, what exactly did you mean by,

" .....If you want a street tough look it's 4 + lower center opening of 3....".

This confuses me a bit because both 4 and 3 have the same chrome grille, which would mean that a 4 + centre opening of 3 would basically = to 3 again! :) No?!

Ok, to directly answer your question of what I was thinking of for the rear, here is an actual picture of the rear view of #4 below.

#2, 4 and 6 are all the Caractere front bumper piece with various combos of grills on top and fender flares, #5 is a W12 front with the OEM flares and a aftermarket ABT or Caractere grill, #1 looks like the abt front bumper piece and #3 looks almost stock. As much as I like the Caractere stuff, I would say go for #5. That is exactly what I would do if I had enough $$ to burn as that kit is extremely expensive!! Your probably looking at the $5-8K by the time its said and done... but sexy!!! If I had a newer touareg such as a 2008 or so I would go for the Caractere kit as I think that one looks better than the w12 but that is just my opinion. Its your ride, do what you like cuz at the end of the day you are the one that has to look at it (and pay for it:))

Well.....

I have decided to keep the present front end look of #3, which as most of you probably figured out, is mine ;). However for the rear, I've decided to go with what I posted above in post#22.

Now the question is, which shade (read which colour code) of silver do I elect to go with?
I want the brightest silver, almost metal looking from a distance, in order to show the piece off, and contrast the black PDC sensors off for good measure.

#35 ·
I prefer brushed stainless look, but I'd match your front bright bits for consistency.

Btw, are these the factory stainless options I've seen on sime sites for big $s or the plastic ones?

Who did you call? I don't want to insist, but whoever told you this is full of it.

I did buy the last piece they had in stock in the whole of Canada BTW, so I suppose I got lucky :) . I'm sure though they can order it from the homeland. Anything is possible when you show the goods $$$, unless we are talking serious components like supercharger tuning programs, etc..

Could you pm me the part number? I asked two of the dealships around me and they said its not availablewith park sensors here, even though I see pictures of them from Europe.

#34 ·
Ok, here it is, but as always, things can get complicated as is sometimes the case with the 'dude, so bare with me carefully. On my invoice, the part# is CARVT7L-02PS (w/o Tow-w/Park). The one I have IS with tow, so they have listed the wrong part# on the invoice. The right part# would be CARVT7L-02TPS with the provision for tow.

Both those part#'s listed above though, are with the park sensors. FWIW, whether you order it with or without tow won't make a whole hell of a difference, since you can pop the provision out on the tow version anyways.
