Flashing lights at other Touaregs

Sighted a Touareg in front of me lat night near Brown U in Prov., RI. Back in the 70's, I had a 74 BMW2002 and when encountering another BMW, we used to flash our lights at each other to acknowledge another BMW car buff, that was before it was cache to drive a BMW. I would suggest that flashing of one's lights should continue with Touaregs as we purchase them for the vehicle's attributes versus status. For the same money, one could purchase a BMW, Lexus or a Mercedes SUV, none of which compares to the Touareg as a complete SUV, imho.

Hey Steve - totally agree with you. I've been waving and flashing frantically since I got the car, but there are only a few drivers who wave back. It's big news in our car when we get acknowledgement.

flash lights

Totally agree. Have been doing it for a while, some give curious stares others ignore. Where ARE fellow club members!!!

Once we have the bigger ClubTouareg decals, it would be easier to spot other members. I plan on having one on the front windshield and one below the 3rd brake light. So that oncoming as well as following cars can take notice of a fellow club member.

I too try to get the attention of other Treg drivers and get mixed results.

Wont give up due to the Tregs are a rare breed on the road right now and it is nice being not the familer SUV on the road !!

Same here. There are around 5 other TRegs living in my area and only some (the same ones) ever acknowledge my wave or flash. Maybe the others are too good for us?? Same goes when travelling around. Wierd how some people react.

Often wondered if some people buying such vehicles don't like or feel any cameraderie toward others with the same good taste?

Treggie - it's a pretty small club, too: less than 1500 in Australia. I could understand if the V8s and 10s didn't deign to acknoledge my lowly V6 ;-) but it isn't that. Maybe they can't see us gesticulating wildly and think our flashing lights just aren't for them - the car does have a comfortable cocooning effect...

I do admit that some may not see my flashes, as I use the DRL feature and it may not be as visible.

Still, ever optimistic, I will continue to wave, even to those with the V6  and spread good cheer to fellow Treggers!

Now I have to keep a lookout for ClubTouareg stickers as well!!

Although I still keep trying...it is amazing how many times I get snubbed by the other drivers.

Hey people lighten up!! We are a rare breed out there...enjoy!! How many X5 and Pepers do you see around...lots!!

Lovin my Treg!!

I flashed a guy yesterday in the Colorado mountains and he had that look on his face like: 'what the hell is that guy doing?' Oh well!!!

For me it's about 50/50 with other 'T' owners acknowleging me when I give 'em a friendly flash or wave!

Article on VW Driver magazine

...I think we sholud find a way to publish an article about Club Touareg on the VW Driver magazine , then we would get more potential members...and of course our salute rate would get higher...
....How hard can that be?

If you support the idea, post a reply.

I give the thumbs up out the window :) If you do it inside, the oncomming driver probably won't see you due to the factory tint. Flash the hazards once so all the running lights come on is another trick I use.

Cheers and keep showing the love!

I posted this some time ago, but flashing can be down right dangerous. Some years ago out in the Puget Sound area there were gang hoodlums that would drive around with their lights out so people would flash them. Then they'd take after them and the shooting would begin. I remember official warnings in the news not to flash for that reason, or not to even look at the car beside you. Scarey times. Hopefully these creeps have been sent back to from whence they came.

Understood, but the chances of the hoodlems driving $40,000 SUV's is probably not a problem ;-)

Wave

The "wave" is found in the Corvette and motorcycle community. It's just a jesture of friendship among others that have a commen interest. The wave in the vette community has been tradition since 1953!

It would be cool to have fellow T-reggers wave also. Lets start it up!

Saw another T-regger giveing her egg the walk around (like she just purchased it ) and thought I would park in front of her to say "hey nice truck". When I got out she gave such a look, like don't even try it buddy. =; so i just hit the locks on the remote and went for a sub-sandwich.
i still flash sometimes but most aren't that friendly. the coffee shop girls like my egg though

I don't wave at V6s. :evil_laugh:
I don't wave at V8's! :joy:
If V8's and V6's cannot get along, the V10's will just have to wave to everyone.

I'm going to call urban legend on the hoodlums as well, but hey, at least they would give you a legitimate excuse to truly "drive it like you stole it." Also, I have to think that attempting to box in a V10 with anything short of a semi would be an exceedingly bad idea.
