I grabbed an Auto Scan with my newly delivered Hex-V2. I see a few errors. One makes sense, but most, I haven't noticed an issue with. Should I just reset them, drive, and see what comes back? The Tiptronic is most likely real, as I can't shift up or down.

Funny how the steering angle fault shows up in 03-ABS, not 04-Steering Angle.

For the 56-Radio, what does "tuner not enabled" mean? The radio works just fine.

Also, how/where do you see the build date on the VIN/information label?

The 10th letter of the VIN: A. Defines the build year. 2010
Refer:
I know that part, but I'm looking for a month/yr combo in case it ever comes up in a parts search. Some items are build date specific.

Your link shows Feb. 16, 2010. I don't think I have ever seen or used that site. Interesting info there.

I took a picture of the tag and now I see it - 02/10 in the upper right corner. It was too dark for my eyes to catch it since it is at a downward angle and I was not low enough.

I see in your VCDS scan the fault date for the tiptronic fail is 2006 (before your vehicle was built?)
I saw that, too. Not sure what that means.

But that could be why it doesn't work. :D

Right, it thinks it is stuck in the past :p Now on a serious note, I did notice such odd ball errors before in read outs. Some searching on VCDS forum did not yield much useful information as to why and when it happens. VCDS just reads data off the module and presents in human readable format, so I'd suspect either the module is coded wrong (might have dates set wrong) or it is just spewing garbage (errors on communication line).

Just having the tools, but not understanding how to use them is not very helpful.
Read the VCDS manual and understand the meaning behind the Freeze Frame data.

For now, I will tell you that it's a serious code, indicating that it requires immediate service, and that it has happened 4 times. It will not clear itself until you get 196 "problem free" driving cycles.

Read this to further troubleshoot that issue

You can also clear it and see how fast it comes back, but I'm 99.9874% certain that it will not go away until you fix\replace something.

I have a GM Tech II for my through 2014 GM products. Took a minute to learn how to use it. I have had the Hex-V2 for all of three days, and my Treg for 11 days. A lot of reading to do to learn about it and the new scan tool. Forums like this help the new person learn what they need. I will do my part, and I have been, but it won't happen overnight. So thank you for the comments and assistance. I have the Wiki open in another tab but haven't started searching for the faults yet. Thanks for the Tiptronic link.

I'll reset the codes this afternoon and see what comes back and how quickly and go deeper into the Tiptronic fault as that is the only thing I actually know isn't working.

This is probably where your issue is. Check wiring first, then replace the electromagnet. There should be two based on what I'm seeing in these diagrams. One is to allow you to take it out of park (at the front) and one to allow tip (at the rear, part of #11 assembly). Hopefully it's just a connection\wire issue and you just have to wiggle\correct it.... otherwise, you'll have to take some things apart.

Interesting. I'll check that out for sure. I have read other threads about magnets being loose/missing, and the board being broken.

Quick question (I'm sure I can search and find it but I thought I'd ask): Can I set up a live data screen in VCDS to see if there are any inputs/outputs when I move the lever in Tip mode? Since this system seems to be so capable, I figure that shouldn't be an issue. Like I said, still learning it. The Tech II is much less sophisticated even though it was the dealer level tool for many years. Coming from it to VCDS, I am blown away. Live, two-way data is one thing, but coding/adapting/making changes... yeah. This is nice! I'm thinking the VC Scope might work, but I haven't played around inside the program to see if I can just go to the transmission module and watch it there once I find the right address/location.

Mods, any idea why my post above this is awaiting moderator approval?

@Yeti , @Tech Admin , I'll pick on you since I have seen you two post a bit.

No idea, that is something the forum administrator set up. Not my area.

Yes, VCDS can do live tests and data logging. I've not done much with my Touareg, but I have with my Jetta. I used it to diagnose which door switch was faulty. It would show live status of locked/unlocked. It's been a while, so I cannot remember what function in the module I went into.

Thanks. I'm sure I'll find the right location if I keep using it. It is pretty darn powerful. I'm not used to having this much control and insight into - well, everything.

Vagcom been around for nearly 20 years. Crazy Stuff🤯
