Here's the first issue. I discovered it at lunch today. Its the driver seat...

I had not seen it before, I assume that the nylon trim piece would normally be in the seat bottom base.

What's the club think on chances of a warranty replacement? It looks to me like it has obviously been rubbing and worn through the leather because of the hard plastic seat base.

You might check yours out....

You could likely get it replaced under warranty. It's not like a knife cut that piece.

I had the same problem with my driver side seat. Took it into the dealer and was told that it wasn't covered. Seats, etc. are only covered for 12,000 miles...what a BS! Let me know if anyone gets VW to fix this. Thanks!

Yeah, that's what I figure the first comment by the service advisor will be.

Well, since I only have 10,000 miles in the first five months I guess I will slide the claim in under the wire so to speak.

We'll see what happens.

VW in Germany is replacing the seats all the time! It is a known problem there and dealers glue a little bit of felt in the corners to avoid the abbrasion from the sharp plastic edges of the trim. Id id the same with mine , and have no problems with it. The felt has to cover only the sharp edge at the corner and can hardly be seen.

Interesting information

Thanks dschlei for the information on the German issue and the buck-fifty front seat preventative maintenance kit.
