So, I bought an 04 treg. Soon after purchasing it, I start getting an ocassional yellow running gear workshop light. I take it into the stealership and $250 later they tell me a wire on the air suspension was broken. No problem. I pull out of the dealership and almost immediately I get the red fault running gear.
$90 diagnoses fee they tell me the solenoid Is shot on the compressor. $2800 to put a new compressor on. Told them forget it.
So when it's cold out I get the fault. Weather starts warming up, it goes away. Eventually it stays on all the time.
Got the vag com software and run it. I run the codes on the Internet and it sounds like I have a broken wire on the solenoid (based on what other treg/Audi owners had with the same codes)
I get under the vehicle and unbolt the compressor and low and behold the plug wire to the solenoid is not connected. (it was plugged in but the connector was not "clicked")
Clicked it together and now runs like a million bucks.
Seems a little fishy as those connectors don't come off easily. Not saying the dealership "unhooked" it, but it sure seems odd that I never got the red fault until they did service on it. Just saying'
Thanks to this great forum I was able to figure it out instead of getting bent over by the stealership.
