After 18ish years of ownership, my 2004 Treg V8 has moved onto a new owner.
I bought it as a CPO around 2006. It is probably the vehicle I owned longer than any other. While I did experience many of the Treg gremlins, with help from folks here I was able to address 90% of those issues on my own. I think the T1 represents a level of sophistication that was VW at its peak. Despite various issues, it was a great vehicle, it served me well, and I have no regrets. It really was a Porsche in disguise.
Life changes, needs change, and it simply was not being used much anymore. With escalating insurance rates, etc., it was simply time to move on. It is now with a new owner who, I won't share his name, is amongst the best known VW afficionados on the planet. I suspect it will serve many good years. He drive it round trip from PA to SC, pulling a trailer, a few days after purchase.
I want to thank the many friends and goid folks I have come to know here over the past 20 years. This forum is an amazing resource, without it I would have ditched the Treg as soon as the warranty ran out. I certainly hope others benefitted from my many posts as well
I do not see myself buying another VW product. The Treg is gone in the USA, the Atlas is nothing special, the rest of the lineup is meh. The ID Buzz does look interesting so I will never say never!
Thanks again and happy Tregging!
