What is up, everybody?

I have a '12 TDI Lux that I have been running for about 2 years now and am itching to make a few more upgrades in the coming months...

I currently have a Malone Stage 2 flash and a yrktreg TCM installed. However, I still have all of the finnicky guts in place.

I would like to do something with the exhaust without ripping the guts out so as to not mess with the warranty. Now, before everyone jumps down my throat about already voiding it, let me say this: I recently flashed the Treg back to stock file and swapped the fixed TCM back in for a Warranty covered replacement of the EGR - no issues with the dealership (drove about 200 miles on the stock file before bringing it in).

So, does anyone have insight into my options? I understand that the exhaust note will improve marginally, at best - but will take anything. I know SuperSprint makes a system, as does GDM. Does anyone have experience with these or other systems? Any sound clips to share for a pre-built or custom system with emissions nonsense still in-tact?

Thanks,
M.

Every single time you flash your car up and down you alter the flash count. You may have cruised under the radar this time but it's just a matter of time when Volkswagen mothership sees this and laughs you out of the door

I did a lot (like a LOT) of reading about tuning and the void of warranty. If it matters to you, there is an extraordinarily low chance that you won't get caught. VW hates these cars and how everything turned out for them and would love nothing more than to be free of the warranty liability. If you're good with that, then mod away. It's just a lot of money that you could be on the hook for if something goes wrong.

Now, with regard to your initial question...I've read of a few guys who have removed the mufflers and noted little sound difference. It might be a good place to start. If it doesn't do anything start working upstream.

That is SO true. That's why they're artificially destroying the Touareg market with stupid low prices, in an effort to get them gone sold and 'out of their hair'.

The muffler - I've deleted mine. Its the utmost smallest gain in sound as a result. Probably a ~10% increase in sound that only an enthusiast would notice. Side by side, its noticeable. To an untrained ear, probably not even a difference. Definitely some response gain though, and as a result horsepower/boost gain (or more likely than a boost gain is a drop in drive-pressure).

Agree. An immeasurable number of turns. Can't be good for flow, but, the duals look nice

Reviving an older thread, but what are people using for a flex or down pipe? I have a cracked one and my mechanic said it is back ordered from VW. Winter is coming and I wasn’t my all wheel drive. It’s been sitting at his shop for two months

Yikes. Is your mechanic a dealer? Random TDI parts go on back order for a year at a time sometimes but I don't think I've heard of a downpipe being on back order. Have you checked parts-vw.com?
