Hi All,
UPDATED 11/11/2021
Given the relative lack of in depth information about Touareg modifications I thought I’d offer my thoughts on the Eurowise 2” spacer lift kit I have recently installed on a 2009 VW Touareg (Gen 1 Facelift Update). I believe the Touareg offroad scene is growing quickly and the more info that gets out there, the better this platform will get as the mod scene grows. There's some great stuff on Youtube such as The Fast Lane and Deutsche Auto Parts, so hopefully it just gets better.
WARNING: this is going to be a Doug De Muro level of detail review, so for those who just want to opt out now - allow me to summarise:
Pros:
Greatly increases the Touareg’s capabilities offroad
Cheap cost compared to other options
Transport authority approved this mod
Stock suspension comfort and handling mostly retained
High quality components
Cons:
Update 11/11/21: 2" lift put axles at excessive angle and was audibly wearing the CV joints. Have removed kit. Requires subframe drop kit.
Eurowise support could have been better
Would prefer a proper suspension lift however no reasonably priced options exist
Potentially not a simple to install as indicated
Overall Rating:
80% - Qualified Below
Update 11/11/21: Eurowise only offer a minimum 2.5" kit now, which would only place more stress on the CV joints. However they now offer multiple subframe drop kits, which weren't available when I fitted my kit. These drop kits are absolutely required and you should not be lifting these cars without a subframe drop kit if you want to ensure reliability. Eurowise really shouldn't be selling these kits without the subframe drop in my opinion, or at least make it clear it is required.
I would fit again, but only with a subframe drop. I really miss having the lift but I need to have 100% faith in my vehicle. Would be great to hear from anybody else who has fitted these kits and any long term feedback.
