EGR auxilary pump

Recently I've picked up an insanely high-pitched whine from the engine bay when the heat is running in the cabin. The noise will cycle on and off directly if I turn the settings to get into cabin heat.

Oddly it does not sound like the cabin pump under the fender, and instead coming from the EGR auxiliary pump. Since this car is deleted (2011 TDI) can I just unplug this pump, or can I remove it from the circuit and replace it with a hose? Hardware delete of the cooler is on my to-do list but not something I have time for at the moment.

A high pitched whine.. or a high pitched screech? High pitched screech can very well be an EGR leak.

It definitely sounds like an electric motor. Haven't had time to check it, but we did drive around a bit yesterday and confirmed that the problem doesn't appear at all as long as the HVAC doesn't dip into heating.

Might just do nothing with it until I get time to do the full cooler delete now that the weather is getting nicer. Just need to finish some other projects ahead of it.

I would bypass the cooler, for sure.. but not just cap it off
