I have a 2007/8 Touareg (last photo) and the door trims at the lowest edge of the car body where it meets the door have broken clips as you catch these trims getting out of the car (1st photo, trim missing, holes for clips visible). The trims are OK and I just need to source some of these white clips(2nd photo). Feedback I've had from service indicates you must buy the whole trim and, if your car is not black, paint them! I can't believe that is correct.

Anyone know where I can source these white clips?

Thanks in advance and excuse the filthy car!

Part Number 7L0853547A

You can buy them, individually or bulk, on ebay or your dealer and other on-line VW parts stores should have them.

I just replaced a few and found it easiest to attached (insert and press button) the new white clips to the lower door frame first then snap on the black trim afterwards. Buy extras as it took me two tries to figure out the process.

Good luck! :)

When we bought the wife's truck the trim was loose and I asked that it be fixed before taking possession. They fixed it and wasn't loose when we drove it off the lot but came loose again a couple of months later. As it turned out their fix was carpet glue which was smeared all around the broken clips. The clips took some searching online but finally found them part # 7L0 853 547A and bought the 5 that I needed. I took the old clips out of trim and thought the new clips where supposed attach to the trim then snap onto body but the clips wouldn't fit into trim. I then proceeded to grind off tabs thinking I'd ordered the wrong part and fitted them onto the trim and tried to replace trim. It didn't work of coarse, that's when I figured out the clips go on the body and the trim snaps on the clips driving in pin creating a wedge to hold everything into body, so back online and order more c!ips. I put some double sided tape over the holes where the clips go, attached clips and snapped trim on. Do both ends under door first then the 3 in the middle. I used a flat bar over the clips for the ones under the doors and just gave the bar a good tap with a rubber mallot. Hope this helps- Mtnride

Ok I call dibs on Dumb A$$ ..... right now...

How the hell do you remove the old broken clips from the door trim strip ?

I've tried holding the white trim clip and lightly applying pressure with needle nose plyers and then on the side of the door strip where there some small holes prodding around with a small screwdriver hoping they would pop out.

Little help ?

Right then !!

Dumb A$$ update.

Get outside where there is decent light so you can bloody see properly. Dont do this at the office desk. Use a proper blade screw driver not a miniature Victorinox folding crappy thing you found in the desk drawer. Also use proper needle nose pliers (vice grip ones help also) not the miniature Leatherman Squirt P4 one which was in the same drawer as the other crappy tool.

Apply pressure directly to the side tab with the screwdriver where you can damn now see becuase you are outside. Slight downward pressure with the pliers till the tab pops out. Repeat on other side.

All 8 (one side of vehicle front and back) done in less than 10 mins.

Bloody hell !! Frustrating being a Dumb A$$ ..... Really !! 😫 😫 😫

And thanks to this thread

for the descriptive install. I would have put the new white tabs in the trim peice first had i not understood the there is a locking component to the item
