Holy crap that's amazing dude. You know now in retrospect, I really should have pushed for the dealership to replace my pads and rotors that were completely fubar because they let it sitting around in salty New York all winter. Great looking tires too

I agree you let them off very easy I would’ve never taken possession of the vehicle if the brakes were not right.

I mean I did ask the service advisor and he basically laughed and said no I don't think so... So I did make mention of it but I was not forceful at all thinking there was zero chance that they would do that but in retrospect why the hell wouldn't they have? My pads and rotors were fine before they went there... Completely unacceptable that they were completely rusted and corroded beyond use after picking it back up. Life's a bitch sometimes.

Sounds like yet another "stealership" did you dirty.

To be honest I haven't put too much thought into it until this thread started bringing up those old memories and started pissing me off lol 🤣 I really should have been more forceful about them fixing that since it was directly related to them leaving it sitting for so long.

Sorry about that :) but you were so adamant she wasn't going to get them replaced for free. Try reaching out to VW customer service if you have the receipts to prove right around that time frame you needed to have them replaced due to sitting on their lot you might have a chance of getting your money back. Tell them the dealership laughed at you when you asked.

That's a pretty darn good idea! And the real kick in the balls is I paid that same exact dealership that laughed at me the $1,800 or $2,200 or whatever it was to have the brakes changed out 😅😅 win-win for them! I wonder if that's actually in official literature that they would have to cover something or if your dealership did that out of Goodwill?

Not sure if it stated in any literature or not, but they told her Volkswagen corporate has set aside money just for these type of issues.

Well I'll be. That is great to know I didn't know that

When all this diesel gate started in 2015 all diesels vehicles were put on a stop sale. Volkswagen was paying every dealership to maintain the vehicles on their lot. My sister has her Carfax that shows every month or so the vehicle was detailed, started to keep the battery charged and oil service and also driven to keep rust off the rotors.

All this is provided you get a Dealership, not a Stealership. Good to know there's still some honest ones left.
