-TPMS while missing should be able to be added back with VCDS. It has only been omitted from the 150/180 to differentiate the more sporty R line.
I think you will find that R-Line TPMS includes sensors - I doubt these are fitted to the other models, and I'd be surprised if VW of Aust will offer them as an after-market option.

You also wished to do a tweak to remove BlueMotion (start/stop function I presume). There is no VCDS tweak to do that - probably because start/stop function deals with multiple ECUs.

I would have preferred VW to design the stop/start button so that the default mode was stop/start 'disabled'. Instead, I have to manually press the start/stop button every time I start the engine, since I have no need for it.

I would not want the direct (sensor) version in any case. It adds unnecessary complexity. Indirect TPMS is what I am after. Was looking at the MY15 ABS controller in a VW dealer this morning and it did not look anything special, so it should hopefully be do-able.
Ideally I envisage being able to tell before a tyre goes flat, repair it with spagetti, Top it up with onboard compressor and avoid using comact spare.

Annoying if there is currently no VCDS tweak for blue motion. Doesn't mean it cant be done though. It is just a matter of working out how by trial and error.

Even better if we can work out how to swap the default to off instead of fully disabled as you suggested. Should be a fun challenge :D

When I got my MY12 Treg, I held the same optimism that you do - my fiddling with VCDS to find a fix to deal with stop/start resulted in me almost 'bricking' my Treg.

Luckily the VW software was smarter than me, and the problem I caused resolved itself over a 12 hour period. I don't know what I did ... all I know is that was the first and last time I tried to fiddle with stop/start coding. Other coding changes like tilting passenger side mirror in reverse gear are 'easy as'.

Just got my new MY15 Touareg. Took all of five minute to disable the Start/Stop function using VCDS, so there is a tweak. It has indeed disabled start/stop when driving, although it does seem to still stop the engine when in Park which I can live with. Also removed the annoying seat belt warning.

Well done Logger, when I tried it 3 years ago, there were still large gaps in the VCDS coding knowledge base. Haven't looked at VCDS since then.

Grateful if you could advise what VCDS software coding changes you made to disable stop/start.

Congratulations on picking up by MY15 Touareg.

Please post pictures when you get a chance.

BTW, did they mention anything about Google/Mobile services?

What about how to use the sim slot, if it came with one?

Actually unkydunky I jumped the gun a bit. I thought that I had successfully disabled Bluemotion with VCDS only for it to come back a few hours later. So my methodology is flawed. I had gone into the 05-Acc/Start Auth module and unchecked Start/stop function in the coding area. I briefly tested by taking the car on three separate drives, having removed the key and locked the car in between. SS stayed disabled. But when I drove it later in the day it was back again. So no cigar. But now that I have used the 150's S/S it is actually nowhere near as slow as my other petrol car & appears near instantaneous to get under way. Ta boot it also automatically disables itself when towing which we plan to do a lot of, so this is well thought out. NB glad I got the genuine VW tow pack for this. So maybe I will leave it active

Thanks nm2003. I have the 150 and very impressed so far. In no particular order. After 24 hours:

Even with the baby engine feels well powerful enough and has a decent note when you give it the fruit.

Heated front seats. Wow didn't expect that.

Few minor issues. When the turn signal are on, the indicator click or tick sound is barely audible. Wonder if there somewhere to increase its volume in VCDS? As there is no setting for it in the infotainment/settings.

The reversing camera is OK but not as sharp as the lowly Kia one. I would like to find away to activate the trailer docking guide I have seen on US models.

The Nav unit definitely has the SD slot along with appropriate WiFi hotspot menus in infotainment screen & instruction on use in the manual. I have not used it yet though so I cannot comment on if an in car sim will clash with a paired phone.

No Google services installed, whilst they are mentioned in the handbook. I hope to get them fitted in the next few weeks and will report back on how I go.

Also no DAB radio, so the RNS850 shows FM and AM only. If I press the Voice command button and say "dab" I get the response "this function is currently disabled".

So I am trying to ascertain if my RNS850 has the DAB function fitted and disabled or if the hardware is missing. I suspect the latter as VCDS says the radio is a basic one 4G1 035 053 J.

Also would like to find a away to remap the Voice command button on the steering wheel so it simply mutes all audio. It did this on my Golf 6 and was very convenient. Maybe VCDS can do this.

So far done a 300 kms and have another 200 to do this arvo.

Thanks for replying back to my queries.

Looks like you will be a bit of a pioneer for the Aussie forum members, willing to go where no other Aussie has gone before, (ie. and figure out how we can get Google Services / Wifi Hotspot / DAB working).

Happy to read that you are enjoying going on long trips.

Looking forward to also going on long drives when mine arrives.

BTW, have you taken time off work to clock up so many kilometers, or are you lucky enough to be retired.

Interesting about the quality of the reversing camera. The Macan apparently also has less than perfect quality camera (according to the Porsche owners)

Maybe they had some left over Macan rear cameras and put them in the Touaregs and have upgraded to better quality cameras for the Macans. ;)

No I wish. I just happen to live over 200 km from work. Fortunately I do not commute daily.

Family member has a brand new Audi A4 and the reverse camera is equally as poor. I put it down as being a VAG thing. I mean the smarts are there with bendy lines when you turn and graphics on the screen. Just the underlying camera imagery is poor when compared to the KIA.

Enjoy the new car driving experience.

BTW, not sure if you mentioned if you escaped the SWS issue that has plagued many others.

Did you go for a test drive before handing over your money and taking delivery?

Hmm I just google that. Steering Wheel Shake? If that's what you mean mine seems as good as gold. I did not test drive as I was unaware of the issue. I am the first to notice these issues, so I would have noticed it.

BTW trip computer had me on 6.7l/100 for todays 200km which I was thrilled about given it is a brand new engine. Extra Urban in the specs says 6.5.

Hi Logger
6.7 per 100 sounds promising.
Did you notice if the coasting function in the gearbox was active and if so how did it feel?

My commute has long downhill sections and I think coasting would help with fuel economy, hopefully not at the expense of extra brake wear.

I know when I was younger and couldn't afford fuel I was always in "angel gear" trying to get a few extra miles to the tank.

That will be interesting to see on a long term basis - I wonder if saving a few extra ltr of fuel is worth it when you look at the cost of re-building the brakes?
Or maybe the new Touareg smarts have a 'coasting disable' mode for downhill runs where it senses the on-going use of brakes?
I kinda like the way the T3 drops down the gears when you take your foot off the gas going downhill - it saves the brakes and also keeps you in the right gear, especially good when towing the van...

From what I understand coasting is disabled as soon as the brakes, accelerator or gear change are touched. Also disabled when hitched and can be disabled via the touch screen menu.

So it should be a good thing if it works as designed and is seamless in operation.

Amazing....6.7L/100k....I am getting 12L/100 for a MY12. Drive short distances sometimes and a lot of roundabouts where I live.

Very impressive fuel consumption for highway driving. The claimed highway is 6.5L/100k for the 150kw.

Considering your brand new Touareg has not run in yet, and most likely has run in oil, you should get much better after next oil change.

BTW, the equivalent claimed highway figures for MY15 150kw, 180kw and 250kw are 6.5, 6.7 and 7.5 l/100kms, with 8.4, 8.6 and 12.0 for inner city driving. Combined figures are 7.2, 7.4 and 9.2 respectively for the 150, 180 and 250kw engines.

All I noticed was the fuel flow was zero when coating downhill. Same as my Mk6 Golf. However later on when I was showing someone the car I duscovered the Coasting option in the MFD car menu. Box was unchecked so I guess it was inactive. Have now checked the box and will see what happens downhill.

Hey Loggers have you played much around with the navigation menu yet? Is the an option to enable traffic reports like the MK7 golfs have available (of which VW Australia state is not active). Would be interesting to know as the Audis have this feature available now.
Also what version mapping was provided with your vehicle?
