hi all touareg owners that love to use their touareg in proper way :) ''you know what I mean'' LOL
so during these almost 8 years that I've got my T1 V8 ive been doing lot of off road driving around my country, but never had time to put proper underbody protection that is so important to avoid damage (been lucky so far with plastic ones) but few weeks ago local offroad club announced off roar expedition that would be very tough for any off road car and it was a very big risk of damaging my car cause i knew that trip includes rock crawling and very deep muddy hills with big rocks in them so i definitely needed proper skid plates to be able safely join them.
to get the idea of what kind of cars were there and how prepared were they here is the photo of other cars on that trip :)))) 25+ cars total

so to get back to the main topic i decided to make skid plates myself + help of others with welding few things for me,
i bought 4mm thick steel plate 2x1 meters, i wanted to get aluminum but it was 5 times more expansive :(
hare are some photos that show how simple it is to make good skid plates on touare as the hole belly is straight and only 1 place it needs to be bent and shaped.
front plates are in 2 peaces as the are heavy as hell LOL, + i made protection for rear diff as well,
after i fitted them i went to that off road trip and OMG I'm so glad and so lucky i fut them on cause i would have smashed my rear diff and front oil pan as well 100% ill post some photos of the damage on them after the trip

so my skid plates cover front engine area + all the way transmission and transfer case, also separately rear diff, the only thing is not protected is the fuel tanks on both sides but im planing to protect them too, after successfully completing the trip and everyone was so surprised what TOUAREG can really do and how capable these cars are i took them off, washed them, sandblasted them in my shop, and took them for powder coating, and thay look much nicer now, i need to wash under body of my touareg as it has lot of mud all aver it and than im gonna put them on and share with you guys

there are holes on the subframe, we did not make any new ones, we took this kind of nuts and put through those holes and welded around them so it stays plat and its not poking out, so when you will have 4mm plate you only have 4mm less loss of clearance :) and you have to make holes on plate for bolts :) thats it, very easy :)

I dunno. Even though this is very nice work, I have to express some doubts.

When the Germans engineers computed the specs for the plastic cover, they figured it would take at least two dozen bolts to attach the plastic cover to the bottom of the Touareg and for that cover to withstand the effects of Gravity.

By the German Engineering Standards, you should have used at least four dozen bolts to hold your plate on! :ROFLMAO:

(Running, laughing, and ducking for cover all at the same time)
