Thanks. Sorry for my snarky response, but I still think I’m right. You bend some 304 in a mandrel bender and put some flanges on, maybe like a high end steel framed bicycle you’d like beautiful welds instead of a dump.
This $800 part is what you are saying is too expensive, right? 3 mandrel bends, 6 welds, a stainless flex pipe, etc. Made with probably $300 in raw materials cost, and has to fit perfectly in a really tight space. IDK where you live, but it would cost me ~3x to get that custom fabricated by a welding or exhaust shop, and it wouldn't be an "engineered solution" meaning it would likely rub/chafe on things, or crack over time, and would have zero warranty- I would have to get it refabricated when it failed.

Maybe you can get by with one of those aluminum can thick flexible emergency exhaust pipes they sell at auto parts stores for $9.99 🤣

Have you been looking under my hood?

Dude, that's a dryer vent tube- those only hold up on the intake side on Touaregs, makes a great snorkel for deep water fording. It works good with a plastic dryer vent wall plate mounted through your fender, so it can be removed for freeway speeds.

you can buy flexible exhaust pipe with IDs from 1” to 6”. Just saying for those poor people…

I don't even know what you're talking about.... I replaced my downpipe with one of those in 4" diameter for extra flow, and I have no codes! Pulls like a locomotive!

My friend recently got a 3.0 TDI and was wondering how deletes work as his will only be used off-road in Mexico. Can you delete just parts of it like swirl flaps or the adblue part, and which would be advisable? Any options for downpipes other than the ridiculously priced ones from buzzken and rawtek? Thanks.
what year and model does your friend have?

2013+ do not need swirl flap delete. the design is a more standard all metal throttle body rather than individual throttle body typedesign in 2012 and earlier.
Q7/Cayenne/Touareg do not need DP which is the most expensive from these companies.
