Hi all,

A debit card was in the the small catch all in front of the gear shift and when I braked it somehow slid through the small space between the holder and the dashboard (where the arrow is pointing). It's too narrow to reach into to grab the card, so what does anyone advise to remove the plastic piece in front of the gear shift so I can grab the card?

Hopefully the space under this part of the console has a back of some sort. Could I take it off myself, or should I take it somewhere. I haven't been able to find a how to video or how to retrieve it, so if anyone has a video (or where to look for one) to accomplish this please share. Much appreciated!

Before I'd start removing trim pieces, I'd try simple glue on a nail file or a really thin screwdriver. Good luck.

I agree with Mike. Try hard to fish it out first. Disassembly is not for the faint hearted.
Maybe an endoscope will help.

Don't be surprised if when you get your debit card back $2000 has been deducted. It is a Touareg after all

1st- If that's your interior, it looks awesome.
My suggestion on retrieval is this. If you can see the card but can't get to it, take a Manila Folder or something of the same thickness/stiffness and make a sickle shape out of it. Get it to go in and then behind the card to pull it out.
If you can't see the card and it fell all the way in, then unfortunately removing trim pieces will be your only option.

Call the bank, report it lost, they'll cancel it and send another. Be honest about it, say it's stuck somewhere you can't reach it.

it may be easier to take the side trin off in the footwell area and reach in with a flexible prod and a bit of sticky tape on the end
