Dealer Cluelessness: 2011 Tire Pressure

I've driven 2100 miles since picking the car up at the dealer, and I just found the tire pressure readout on the MFD. All four tires were inflated to 49PSI, cold, instead of 33 front and 38 rear.

Speaking of tire pressure, is anyone running a little high for MPG or some other reason? I'd be curious to know what people have experimented with and experienced. Thanks.

Hehe read my first thread...same thing they had them way up there "for winter" (42/46). You're not in StL are you...same dealer?

But that amount over is insane and negligent...just drop 'em down to 33 to 35 front and 38- 40 rear.

No, Gossett in Atl. did it.

Similar to mine, but all four were different, vehicle pulled to right. PDI was out of state in Fort Smith AR. Dealer put ~100 personal miles on it, then another 500 to local dealer, I guess no one figured out how to check the tire pressures in the MFD.

Running 33/36 except when pulling heavy trailer then 33/38.

...and why would you ever think the dealer would waste time on checking the proper pressure on every car they sell or service? :D:D:D That is a waste of time for them. Do you see a cook inspecting every hamburger at McDonallds?

Of course not, speed is the game there.

My wife had to take her XC90 10 times to the dealer with various issues (still on warranty) and half of the time my independent shop mechanic diagnosed and put in writing what was wrong with her car. That's how she got brand new valve body for her tranny and new axle and new PS pump ;).

The shop I service my cars at will check and inform me about tire pressures every time I have an oil change. I know, I let some air out from one of the tires on purpose and yes they caught it.

They will also take sweet time draining oil and inspect the car in the meantime. If they see something they will let me know. Works for them and works for me.

With my experience, dealer will always try to sell you something you do not really need but they make good money on but hey they have a lot of pressure so you can't blame them. If you are in sales, you'll understand.
