I've had my '05 Touareg for a few weeks and for the most part, I think it's great. One minor irritation is that the daytime running lights will not turn off when the parking brake is applied, even though the manual states it will. My dealer says there's no way they can be turned off.

I don't like shining those nice bright bi-xenons in somebody's window while I warm up the Touareg. Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks, spockcat. I'll take your response to mean that VAG-COM is the only way to alter the DRL behavior, and that the users' manual is just plain wrong. If I understand other posts correctly, VAG-COM can be used to place the DRL control back on the switch, but that they are never turned on or off by the position of the parking brake.

Spockcat, pardon my ignorance but what is VAG-COM how would you go about starting it?

I dont have my TREG yet, hopefully a week or two and like dh I like being able to turn off the DRL with the parking brake as on other VWs.

That isn't going to happen.

I would suggest finding someone in your area who has a VAG-COM and who would be willing to help you out. This website has a VAG-COM locator database (above, on the links). If all you want to do is disable your DRLs, you'll save money using someone else's (be sure to compensate them though) and will be less likely to screw something else up on your car.
