I've run on DRLs for 30 years.

There have been many times in differing circumstances when I know that without them, someone would have pulled out into my path.

If people are turning them off to save the cost of a couple of new bulbs every two or three years, then they're cheapskating not only on their own but their passengers' lives as well.

Perhaps some folk just don't care about their wives and children . . .

Well said, it is just a bulb, well two bulbs.

Pro life or pro choice?
.

Turn them on or turn them off, thats your prerogative. The fact is, turning on DRL's save lives, whereas turning them off saves your bulbs life....whats more important really?
It's all understood. However, I see no point to stay (commuting) daily in a funf kilometer Stau with my HID on. Nobody will be hurted in a traffic jam.

I think that's a very shortsighted attitude. DRL's aid in other people not necessarily drivers see your car, the mother trying to cross the street with 2 kids and a stroller, the 80 year old with a walker and failing eyesight who cant properly discern a grey car from a grey sky and a concrete background.

Anything that helps other people see me coming and prevent them from pulling out in front of me and saving me a 9 week trip to the body shop for repairs has to be a good idea. Can't understand wanting to turn them off, Sorry.
I would turn them off on the highway because they're useless but Turn them on when city driving, parking lots, streets, etc for ped safety and fools recklessly pulling in my path.

That's exactly my point. You have the choice to turn them on when there are other cars on the road or the potential for pedestrians crossing the street and turn them off when driving on the freeway.

Pro choice!

I would still prefer they were always on, but i gotta say this is a much better compromise than saying drl's are useless and good for nothing

Put your seat belts in a closet, only use them when your going to have an accident. Air bags and anti-lock brakes too. Safety is an all the time sport.

So I just disabled my daytime running lights in order to drive the Long Island beaches at night. Reading some of the comments on this thread I may not get an answer here but it's worth a shot. It's nice to have the option of turning the xenons off, however where are my parking lights?? It would be nice to at least have some running lights or parking lights with the switch selected to park. Does anyone know of a way to operate with orange parking lights only? Thanks
