Actually the new version is wifi and can be run on the iPhone also
There are a few ELM 327 OBD2 to Bluetooth adapters out there. Which one did you buy - and which app are you using on the iPhone?

I see you have an '04... Does the ELM 327 work with 2011+ vehicles?

I'll probably return this code scanner (bought at Amazon) and get the one you bought if it is compatible with my '12.

I ended up ordering this BAFX unit from Amazon instead of the others. I read a LOT of reviews and this one seemed to have the most positive. I also found there are a number of cheap knockoffs of the other orange and blue product which sells for $10 or $15. I suspect they may be the cause of so many people having connectivity issues.

I returned the other code reader today and will post again with impressions of the BAFX unit once I receive it.

Got this unit yesterday and had a few minutes to test it out; it works, but it's very slow to connect and begin showing data. I paired it with my HTC and tested it with the free Tourqe app. -Glad I didn't spend the money for the full app because it is disappointing. It pulled the code p20ee - which I read online is the Adblue system - however it didn't provide that information, just the code.

I should have listened to you guys and just bought the Ross-tech vcds. I didn't want to spend $200+ especially when it only works with a laptop (cumbersome and inconvenient - and I have a really old laptop) but it seems it is really the only way to go. The cheap, $25 scanner doesn't exist - at least - one that works well doesn't exist. Fortunately Amazon picks up the tab for return shipping so it hasn't been a loss...just time wasted.

I'm selling my Ross-Tech cable, it's up in the classifieds as we speak.
I'll still need to buy the software, right? I have a laptop - an old one - and it still would work fine for this, but it has an old battery that literally will lose its whole charge in about 15 minutes. Now that I think of it - that doesn't matter because I can plug in to the Treg's 110v plug. :)
