Just discovered this helpful tool in the trunk.
Never heard of or used one before. If you're wondering what this thing is here is a video

My T2 had one but I didn't discover what it was for until after I had changed my first wheel. My current T4 didn't come with one (ex VW executive fleet). The dealer said they weren't included and said none of the new cars on the showroom floor had them (sounds like BS).
I ground the head off a long bolt to make my own. 8mm thread I recall.

What the How-To video doesn't show: Before you take off the wheel, undo one bolt and insert the tool. It makes it easier to remove the wheel, as well as putting it on. Otherwise the wheel wants to fall off as you loosen the bolts.

Sound advice!

I plan on borrowing it from my fiance's Touareg whenever I need to pull the wheels off of my Golf R. I used to borrow it out of her A3...I can't believe I forgot to ravage her A3 for parts before selling it. Could have taken the wheel hangar and the under body tray (ended up buying the latter for ~$90).

You can see the longitudinal indentations for the headlight unit removal tool for the T1 above and below the lock nut key!

Yea Nooby, it’s strange that the headlight removal tool was included in the tool kit even though it’s not needed to remove the headlights on a T2. I threw it away.

Buy two, then if you offroad you can screw one in each end BEFORE you start!

Always makes me laugh when you see the antics of people trying to insert the towing eye AFTER they've got stuck in deep mud or water!!
