My center Bin lid keeps popping open. Can't identify the problem , latch just doesn't hold it closed go over a bump and it pops open, any ideas of the cause ?

Is this the one on the top above the vents! or the one on the level of the gear shifter.

cracked on the back of the front piece I expect, common problem so dealer should sort it under warranty no prob..

BAILS, if you get it replaced under warrantee, try and keep the old bin - I'll buy it off you!

It is the center bin with the arm rest. Sorry for the confusion. I was told I couldn't get it replaced under extended warranty, but on inspection by me there seems to be nothing wrong except the spring loaded catch won't hold the lid down.

Wasn't there a TSB on the Center Arm Rest? Can't rmember what exactly the fault was. Don't think it was because of the bin opening, but it could be related...?

I remember seeing something about opening the bottle holder with the lid in the open position to check for a coloured sticker to see if it's the new part or not...

Mine was not replaced.Actually I don't think the lid is the issue. In any case the extended warranty doesn't seem to cover this.

OK this is the centre Console I'm talking about. Mine is in good condition except the lock doesn't hold it down. Interesting , it appears that the leather cover comes off, do you know if it is a separate part No ? The dealership said that they wouldn't replace the console under waraanty because it is a wear item ??? If the cover comes off as a seperate part number then I'll ask for the bottom to be replaced.

Out of curiosity I decided to have a look at the issue. It appears the problem is the female side of the latch. The wood grain area around the two cup holders has the female latch , and this is quite lose , ie: I can move it up and down. I suspect this is the problem. Question is how is this removed or Tightened down ?

just check with another dealer Bails, they might be helpful enough to fix it or replace under warranty.

Removing the center section is not that difficult. I did it when I installed my iPod adapter. Here's a link to spockcat's keyless start installation. The procedure for removing the wood trim on the center console is explained quite nicely.

Just be careful and take your time with the clips.
