This thread (Review : BFG T/A KO 265/65/R18 ) gives some answers and pics.

The thread starter fitted them to a V8, but there is a post that says there is only minimal rubber on the V10 (BFG 265/65/R18):

Not quite correct.

I had 265/65x18's on mine and the only rub was at 3/4 turn for just a hair on those vents edge. Not even enough to do anything to them really but could have been fixed easily by screwing them down tighter against the body as they had a 1/2" of movement behind them when I pressed on the rub area.

The modification needed (if any) to fit the 265/65R18 IMO is minor. The benefits far outweigh the little effort required to make it fit.

Saying that, the BFG's generally seem to be slightly bigger than most other tyres in the same size, so the mod you'd have to make forthe BFG's might be slightly bigger as well, but still, if it was my car, I'd go for the 65-profile and MAKE it fit.

Have a look here what this guy did:

Easy... ;)

I know this is an old thread but my touareg has BFG 265/65-18's on it. I purchased it with these tires on it, there were no signs of abnormal wear at the time as the tires looked brand new. I have driven about 8,000 miles on the tires and rotated at 5,000. The inner edges of all four tires are showed abnormal wear when I rotated the tires and they continue to get worse.

I am thinking that with the taller tire a camber adjustment should have been made to increase tread life. That or a proper alignment was never done after these were installed. I run in sport mode the majority of the time so the lower height may also be contributing to the excessive wear. Unfortunately, I didn't catch it quick enough and these tires are toast.

I will put the OEM size back on with a proper alignment.

I have a 2006 TDi with air suspension.

Despite it being thought of as a rugged 4x4, Tregs are very susceptible to tracking problems and it pays to keep an eye on the tyres to make sure wear is even across the tread and between the tyres themselves.
