I need some expert advise here - Soon. I have to put new brake pads and rotors on my Treg., yes the warning message just came on day before yesterday. I am thinking of going all brembo, but they do not manufacture rotors specific to left or right side as do rest of the brands. So my question is does it make any difference if the rotors are not specific to a side, does it really make a big difference to the cooling.

I only go with brembo front and rears pads and rotors. Had non brembo on a diff touareg i owned and def could tell a difference. I recommend only go with brembo.

Ok so I have finally bought Brembo rotors from Brembo. Pagid pads, febi ware sensors, new caliper holding bolts for both front and back and for added attraction I have added parking brakes from FCP Euro site. The items were still cheap in this combination than most of the sites. Plus FCP provides unlimited gurantee for replacement of parts.

Agree what you say about FCP, used them in the past, one downside however is they do not supply (or source) all parts needed for your vehicle.

^^And that is probably for the best.

Did you do the calibration of the emergency brakes and the grinding in procedure after changing the shoes?

Not really, when I opened the brakes the shoes were good so I let the sleeping giant sleep?. But I did f#$% up, I tightened one shoe too much and I made it smoke, thank God, it was a short distance so I brought the Teg back home, will work on it tomorrow.

TouaregNut,
If you adjust the shoe adjusters, you must be within .15mm for each side. The EPB module will show a discrepancy between each set of shoes and alert you of an error.
Use VCDS, EPB module 53 and check the current draw, and the difference in measurement between each side. They have to be within a certain tolerance. There is a grind in procedure that is required if they are adjusted after doing the initial setup.
I am just learning that now.

If you are doing the pads and rotors only then no need for this test. Only to be done if the shoes are replaced or if the adjuster have been changed.

Not anymore. I checked with Brembo, with their new design they have done away with side specific.
Correct it's a Pillar vane design which is non-directional. Their pillar design is better than the original side specific designs by VW (SHW), VNE or Sebro etc...

Brembo- Touareg Rotors made in the UK factory. Same factory AP rotors are made. ;)
