AUX-in on 2011/2012 Touareg?

Hello...I noticed today on the 2011 Touareg brochure given to me at my local dealer that it mentions an "AUX-in for portable audio players" connection, but the salesperson at our local dealer said that the Touareg didn't have one. This is referring to the RNS 850 system. Does anyone know if there is a separate auxillary in? I ask mainly because i would rather use it for my iPod rather than through the media device interface cable. Thanks as always for any input!

Yes it does have a AUX in in the storage armrest between the driver and front passenger. I got the extra cables with mine but have not used them yet. The RNS has a 60gb hard disk and 2 SD slots. I have the RCD 550 and it has 1 SD slot that I have a 32gb SD card inserted with MP3 format music - works a treat. Using the AUX in will not charge you iPod unless you have a separate charger.

My 2012 TDI LUX has 180GB HDD and it came with I-Pod cable and the Auxiliary Audio connection cable. I was expecting to find a USB cable too, but the dealer says it does not come with the USB and I have to buy it separately ($29.99 on Amazon.com). It is kind of weird location to have entertainment center in the gloves compartment, but I am loading most of my music and video on the HDD so I don’t have to worry about diving into the gloves compartment. Anyone knows is this true about USB cable or the dealer pulls my leg? It is not a big deal though. Thanks!

My Comfortline came with two cables in the glovebox. One for the iPod and the other is a USB cable. It also has two SD slots on the front of the DVD player as well as the HDD. The book says there's 60GB of storage but I've discovered there's only about 30 GB available. I'm assuming the rest is taken up with the data for the NAV system. There is also a 1/8" plug in in the armrest for another MP3 device although being an Apple afficianado I will probably never use it. I much prefer the iPod Classic. Although I have discovered that while you can pull the music off of it there's no provision to allow you to play the video from the iPod. A small annoyance seeing as how it will play DVDsbut an annoyance nonetheless.

I ve an aux input in my middle armrest box n another iPod/USB input in the front glovebox but only either one can work, which means you can either have an iPod plug to the glovebox or aux in yr iPhone.
