Yup love it...actually am thinking of an A7 tdi. I'm glad diesel is available in just about every Audi..a V12 TDI R8 sure would be nice too.

My wife and I test drove the Q5 TDI and an S-line Q7 TDI on Saturday. As we waited for the keys and dealer plate, we checked out the A7 and A8L TDI. While the Q5 TDI felt roomier than a Tiguan, we felt more at home in the Q7.

Short consensus: our T1 V10 has almost every feature the Q7 has, except a SIM card / SD card interface. The Audi also didn't have diff locks or air suspension (apparently the prestige package offers the suspension).

Funny enough, the salesperson with whom we worked wanted us to watch this Audi ad at his desk before we left. He told me that Audi will be airing many more TDI-focused ads in the coming weeks, especially around the Emmys in a week or so.

Hopefully Audi TDI sales take off and we start to get a better selection in diesel motors (ie: a top of the range V8 TDI)

I was just thinking the same thing. It's sad that the North American market only really gets the 3.0L V6 TDI, almost across the board -- with VW, Porsche, and Audi.

Oh, to see a bigger TDI again :)

Audi is selling these new 6 cylinder TDIs at a large price premium over the gassers. MB is putting smaller twin turbo 4 cylinder diesels (with 369 ft lbs torque) in their vehicles priced less than their gassers.

Interesting.

I don't think it's too much of a large premium over non-oil burners. The Q7 is only $2400 more than it's premium gasoline-powered counterpart. Not any different than VW, in my experience. Diesel can be a tad expensive in most offerings, but as most are well-aware, the performance gains and fuel savings are reason enough to opt for it.

With domestic vehicles, look at the Chevy 2500 HD -- it's about $8000 more for the Duramax engine and mandatory Allison transmission.
