Just received my Grey V8 Touareg in Japan but can not tell the difference between a 2004 and 2005. There is no indication or number which states that the vehicle is a 2005 model but the dealer insists that it is.

Please let me know how to know.

Thanks

Any way to tell the difference between the 2004 and 2005

Check the Vin number and production date on the driver's side door jam. The vin number should be low in association with a recent production date.
Others in this forum, may correct be if I am wrong. I do remember reading that vin numbers start over at the beginning of each production year. If you ordered Onstar, that would be another indication indicatioon that you have a 2005.

MY 04 or 05?

I don't suppose you got a Mulrooney sticker on a car delivered in Japan, but I am assuming it is LHD and US spec, so maybe it came from VWOA and had one...

Otherwise, check the VIN decoder, then your VIN-- the year is embedded in them, I think (but forget where...)

I think that the japanese cars are right hand drive... perhaps it has British specs.

It should have the spoilers in the rearview mirrors (but some '04 have them as well) it would be nice if he can tell us about the VIN number and this way we would say that it's the first '05 out there. Have you ordered the car with navi? Perhaps seeing the navi software we could see if there is a difference.

Please post some pics!!
