Does anyone have a diagram or photo of the wiring layout and inputs on the 2005/06 nav unit? I have one in my new '06 V8 and I'd like to explore adding a carputer or dvd to the system.

I don't have the radio removal tools, and before I buy them and pull the sucker out of the dash, I thought I'd check if someone had the info first.

I have the VW ipod OEM integration kit installed, which disabled my CD changer (crappy), and there appears to be an aux input in the center console, but no documentation on whether it's audio only or video (although red and black RCA jacks indicate to me its only audio).

Any insight would be appreciated.

The inputs on a 2006 are audio only, as are the inputs in the rear. The backup camera takes the only video input, and it has a controller that controls the video display. It is not accessible to the end user.

I have a pic of the camera pinout, as well as a shot of the pinout stickers on my unit. I'll dig em up and post them for you.

I was surprised that my '06 didn't come with the backup camera. I don't have air suspension or parktronic, but I thought the camera was coming with the Nav systems.

CannuckTruck, it matters on what pkg you have. I think the camera pkg comes with pkg 4.

I believe that the equipment/packages supplied to the Canadian market is different than the US market. One example is the heated steering wheel which was availalble on the V6 in Canada but not here in the US.

As I don't have the rearview camera installed, is it possible to use the video input reserved for this camera to install aux. video source such as dvd player?

I suppose I would need to wire a switch to activate the video, in similar way that engaging reverse would engage rearview camera?

Is video enabled on your nav? If you press the buttons to get to the AUX function, does it give you a black screen or a screen where you can chose between audio, A/V or video?

Here is the pinout of my attached backup camera. There is no signal pin to enable the video portion of the NAV in this pinout. I think signaling is done by the CAN-BUS from the camera controller.
