Got an alert light saying that I need to replace my brake pads on Touareg V6 2007.
Mechanic told I need to replace rotors and sensors as well. This guy works with VW and Audi only, and his company has a good rating on Yelp.

What options are there for long-last rotors and brake pads?
Should I order something special or should I just get whatever parts he advice?

My driving style is not aggressive :)

Thanks.

There are loads of threads on here about brakes.

Use the Search facility and read up on the many different recommendations.

brakes like tyres (and beer) can be a personal thing. Check what others have shared. I use ATe ceramics yet i see no one else comment on these. They bed in by about 250kms and are on fire and fully optimal at around 1000kms.

Just make sure they are ECE-R90 standard compliant otherwise you are going backwards from the OEM.

Got OEM replacement rotors, pads, sensors, hardware from Alretta. Search for QPower1's posts. Geoff knows his stuff and you will get good parts at a great price - I got everything plus the triple - square socket and the two torx sockets and Halogen low beam bulbs for a hair under $800 delivered. I ordered Pagid gray iron rotors and Raybestos pads. I wanted low dust and don't mind the linear feel of the Raybestos pads vs. the OEMs. I got 73K miles out of my brakes - not bad for a 5500lb AWD SUV. Hoping to get at least 50k out of this set.

If the Raybestos pads don't have the wear rating of the OEM pads they might not last as many miles - given the same number of breaking cycles.

The Raybestos pads have a different composition than the OEM Brembos. They produce less dust and supposedly have a more linear braking profile. I've also moved back to CO from NM and am driving a little more stop-n-go traffic and expect a lot more mountain driving, though on forest roads and off road I engine brake on downhills.

I chose the Raybestos pads for cost and less brake dust. I'm pretty easy on my brakes, so the longevity difference is not a concern, but I hate having to wash my wheels all the time. The brake feel is great, especially coming from 73K miles of wear on the factory set.

Nothing beats OEM pads when it comes to European cars. My OEM pads produce almost no dust at all.
Not the case for the OEM Pagids on the T1 and T2. They produce brake dust driving 2 blocks away.

My T2 rears were Brembo pads, fronts might have been Pagid but stamps were worn off under the piston marks. Mine was a late 2010, probably one of the last T2 TDIs to come off the line...it was one of the last ones to be found in CO at the time (Nov 10). Geoff said something about Brembo rears when we talked on the phone, but I've forgotten what he said.

Pagid rotors are High carbon iron GG-15

Just a note to correct this: All Pagid rotors are high carbon GG-15 iron as are OE, and Pagid pads are OE, so I can deliver an OE brake Kit for this 2007 V6.

Just inquire with questions!

I think my BMW Pagids produced dust even when parked, lol. My Touareg produces practically no dust, and I am not easy on my breaks. I wonder if they use different pads for hybrids? I also noticed that my front rotors are smooth and the rear ones are not.

very soon im expecting my brake service light will gonna light up :) i already have bought more than a year ago OEM Brembo pads front and rear, i dont need to do rotors yet but i was looking on ECS the other day and thinking of getting Brembo rotors, it should be the same as OEM as the hole brake system is made by Brambo, it costs less than OEM, but only thing is surprising me is that Zimmermann costs more than Brembo, but to be honest i doubt zimmermann is better compared to Brembo. any thoughts??? anyone used brembo and zimmermann to say which is better???

Brembo don't make friction materials. Their pads are PAGID.

Quite a few folk over the years have posted that they've used Zims and PAGs and been happy.
