Amazing Tyre Wear

I replaced the original Pirelli tyres on my Touareg at Bob Jane at around 40K klms. I stuck with Pirelli and replaced with Scorpion AT after hearing they were a great tyre.
I had these replaced at the same Bob Jane outlet a week ago and told them I had driven around 70K klms without even a flat. To my surprise thay told me I had done 73K klms sine fitted. WOW! Just amazed at the performance and wear of these tyres which had just hit the wear line limit. I had done several trips to the back blocks of the Territory and had done numerous trips towing my off road van so it was not just highway driving. In reality though the bulk would have been done around town or short highway trips.
If you are wanting a replacement tyre for your Treg I can recommend these tyres highly

That is indeed amazing mileage. Normally I would replace at about 4mm tread depth, so would achieve slightly less mileage, but even so, it seems good.

Currently I am considering replacement of my Bridgestone Dueler 697 AT tyres. These are very noisy on bitumen at about 50 to 90 kph (city driving speed.) Reluctant to jump to another AT brand that may be just as bad.

How are the Pirelli AT tyres for noise?

I have P zero scorpions fitted and they are, to me silent.

Pirelli AT is indeed an awesome tyre- improved mileage on the v10 too. Shame they dont make it a bit wider in 18s I couldnt stand the narrow look so replaced with contis which are far more aggressive for offroad and last even longer but noisier

I second that on both counts. My OEM Pirellis were terrible (Scorpions). When I replaced my OEM tires, I put on Toyo Versado CUV's. I was very very happy with the tires, getting 45K miles (72K km) out of them. I put a second set of Toyo Versados back on.

BUT, if you've had good luck with the Pirellis, I'd put them back on. My mess with success???

Hi murraycod,
The Scorpions A/Ts were a very quiet tyres and felt very secure in the wet and on dirt. I loved them and cannot recommend them highly enough. If I recall only 1 was at the wear ridges and I think the other 3 were not quit there.I replaced with a cheaper tyre as I'm selling my Treg
Just need to clarify for a few who replied. These were NOT OEM road tyres fitted to my Treg but my second set replacing the OEM P3 Zeros This replaced set were Scorpion A/Ts. Nevertheless I thought the OEM tyre was a very well behaved performance tyre and I did get 40K klms on them although I would have liked a few more Ks
Cheers

big question here is what are the speed rating of the tyres. This will dictate the softness of the rubber and how long they will last .... that is if they are correctly aired up. I always try and get "T" rated tyres which are rated to 190kms anything higher than this is really not needed and you are just throwing rubber (or money) away as they become softer compounds

I Just fitted Pirelli Scorpion ATR 255/60/18 for $326 fitted and balanced per tyre.

I had these previously and got 45K out of them about 30K of that towing and changed with say about 5K left due to a puncture on one.

Hi Dubby
should be warming up by weekend. Into high 20's by Sat, with a drop to 19 on Sunday before back into high twenties early next week. Move in from coast and things will be warmer during the day. Coonawarra is a good place to warm up :drunk:
Generally find that the winds are strong along the coast at this time of year so moving inland a bit makes a difference. Best to avoid coast view caravan parks, especially the one in Beachport with wind blowing in right up the clacker. ice little town though.
