Alternator Search for a 2010 Volkswagen Touareg V6 TDI

It's been a tough search for an alternator for my 2010 Volkswagen Touareg V6 TDI. Part number 059903016SX. I have done the Google searches to various suppliers with no luck thus far even through the dealership. According to my mechanic it is unable to be rebuilt.

Do any of you Forum-good-people out there have suggestions where I might find this elusive part? The vehicle is located in the US.

Good question. Looks like it can, miss-communication with mechanic. Thanks for the followup. Rebuild cost out here on the west coast of California is $250-300.

I think it would be a lot cheaper to rebuild yours, a new one could fetch as much as $800

My google finds it quickly at places like RockAuto

Follow up on this. I was able to find a place to rebuild. Anticlimactic, but that part is in short supply and $$$
