You should first have the coolant checked and refilled. Over time, some of it gets lost. That's normal. Any good workshop will do that.

 

Sent for service already but the only thing I've not done is to check the sensor as to make sure the compressor kicks in whenever the internal temp rose up then only the refrigerant starts to circulate ?

There you can also find something about air conditioning. The download is not expensive. Ask via "contacts" whether they also have it in English. They respond quickly.
You should have a VCDS scan done.

 

We had a similar problem and it was due to the cabin filter not being in place. This caused a restriction in the air flow which causes the evaporator to ice up. It only happened on long road trips and always fixed itself..since ice does melt

 

Having problem with my Touareg for its aircond system. Its functioning well when I do normal daily driving within downtown. However the cooling system start to give problem during the long distance driving. I do not know why. But I have to stop after 100-150km driving and then only it back to normal after that. Anybody having same problem before? Any recommendations to rectify? Thanks

Hi! I'm experiencing similar problem again the moment I go outstation. Been awhile I've not driven mine for more than 2 hours... Got same issue. Is that meant the filter wasn't placed properly?

 

Replace/refill refrigerant.

 

Hi, still having same problem for my A/C system although I’ve sent for service and changed the filter. Could it be due to the sensor?
