Hey guys, the main module that controls the ACC in my 17' Treg has gone bad. Shop wants to charge a ton to replace it. Is this doable by myself with some general mechanic knowledge? Any special tools needed? Part # for reference 7p6907217bxz1y

TIA!

Are they sure it's the module itself?
Do you have VCDS to post an auto-scan?
I've included a thread in the link below where others had the ACC stop working and found things other than the module can cause it. There are a few other threads on here about it, including one where someone posted a video of a DIY repair of the module.

So far they've told me they first tried replacing the primary cable and that wasn't the problem so it's definitely the module. At least that's what they are telling me. If it is, it's on backorder for months. Over 70 units are on backorder nationwide. Unfortunately I don't have a VCDS scan to post. I will check out the link and look into it more. Thank you!

Man do these threads help!! Going through the exact same thing right with my 06 v10tdi, and I found only one diagram that showed the actual accurate location of this module and I may just have a local trusted ship do this job being that it may have to be programmed. I started with replacement the bulb, then the ballast and got nothing. Went a step further to the jumper harness and was confident that was the issue, being that all the insulation on the wiring had basically dissinegrated, and that still wasn't the issue! Still haven't found a reliable jumper harness but taped the wires as best I could for now. Bought and returned a dozen I bet because of fitment issues on the purple end of the jumper. VW I've seen on my sites discontinued production of these units which is crazy! Anyhow, my rant is done😁✌🏾 How did replacing your module go?
