I am not aware of a dip stick that fits and seals and is the correct length. There is an adjustable VW test dipstick tht needs calibration but it has no seal so cannot be left in place. I made up a dipstick from a long wire rod that I marked when the car was full and use that to check the level when filling the oil after a service and leave the plug in the rest of the time and rely on the automatic oil level sensor

Maybe the 4.2 TDI without a dipstick had a shorter tube so it was down under the engine cover as only really intended to be used for suctioning out the oil and doing a check after refill. Those engines with a dipstick had a longer tube so you could easily reach it to pull out ? Just guessing :) I was hoping this Audi one would work but this confirms conclusion that finding a matching dipstick with the right length and that seals is not easy, though one must be out there somewhere on some car.
