Hi all,

I have a 08 V6 FSI

I went off-roading the other day, and once I was back on road I noticed the (check brake pads sign) and also another problem!

I tried overtaking a car, and once the RPM reaches 4k rpm there is a huge drop in the car and no power response. So I released the gas pedal and applied it back "gently". I've noticed that the car runs PERFECT while it changes gears under 4k rpm!

I tried putting it on (N) and revving the engine, the same exact thing happened. Right on reaching 4k, the tachometer just instantly drops to 2k then 3k while my foot is steady on the pedal! and then the epc light turns ON. After that the engine is ALWAYS on 1500 rpm!

Any help from you guys is appreciated!

Exactly as you described!

Am heading over to friend in a couple of days to scan it.

However, was it an expensive fix?

Just got the touareg scanned.

Apparently no misfiring issue!

yet found 8 faults only in engine, hope you guys can figure it out considering am a touareg noob.

Might sound silly, but mine (09) had a few of the same codes (esp. the "implausible" one) as a result of a dying battery, also with the rough running/low power symptoms kicking up after a bit of modest off road driving...
Yeah I replaced the battery 10 days ago!
But did you had the engine "bogging down" all of sudden when you accelerate hard?
 
Exactly. Smooth & slow acceleration was "ok", but hit the throttle w/any real pressure and it was "coughcoughcoughchurrble..."
or something like that.
Dealer ran the tests and came back w/a similar list (it was a couple of years ago, so memory is fuzzy - but the one stood out). Tech had seen this before, so he swapped out the battery, then reset the various codes, and all was well.
FWIW, I also had the sputtering acceleration problem early on, but that time it was caused by water standing on top of the spark plug as the OE coil pack had a stupid "plug" design that allowed water in, but not to easily evaporate - the newer versions didn't have that seal...

Hmm. That's interesting. How did water get into your coil pack? Condensation or from engine hose-down with the garden hose? (Confused)

V6 doesn't have much of an engine cover, so hit a decent depth of water at a (relatively) high speed = lots n' lots of water under the hood...

I did exactly THAT when i went off-loading the other day, So you have a valid point :clapclap:
